Eggless Donuts

Who doesn’t like donuts? My kids are actually mad over donuts so this Easter I made donuts for them as a treat. Have made donuts earlier but they were the baked version. Will share that recipe too later. It was a real treat to see the expression on my daughter’s face when she saw the donuts. In no time the donuts had vanished. Had to quickly grab a couple to share with a friend for her little daughter who in turn was more than delighted to see the donuts. The satisfaction that you get after making something and watching that it is being thoroughly enjoyed by your dear ones is priceless. If you’d like to experience that make sure you go ahead and try these donuts. Trust me not only kids even adults go crazy for donuts 😉

[INGREDIENTS]

1/4 Cup Warm Milk

3 Tbsp Sugar

2 Tsp Yeast

2 Cup All purpose flour (Maida)

Pinch of Salt

1/2 Cup Water

1 1/2 Tbsp Butter

Cooking oil for frying

Dark Chocolate or Chocolate of your choice

Sugar sprinkles

Method

1. In a bowl, add yeast, 1 tbsp sugar, ¼ cup warm milk and mix well. Set aside to activate.

2. In a large bowl, add all purpose flour, salt, remaining 2 tbsp sugar, activated yeast, water as needed and mix well. Add the butter and knead to form a soft dough.

3. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 30 minutes.

4. Dust a little flour on the bench, place the dough on it and sprinkle a little flour on top and roll it into ¼ inch thickness.

5. Cut out donut shapes using a donut-cutter. (If you do not have a donut cutter you can use bottle lid in 2 different sizes.) Once all donuts are ready cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 15 minutes.

6. Heat sufficient oil in a pan. Fry the donuts till golden brown. Set aside to cool.

7. For the decoration you can use any chocolate of your choice. Melt 1 cup of chocolate in microwave and add 1 tsp of butter to it. Mix well. Dip the donuts into melted chocolate and place them on a wire rack.

8. Garnish with colourful sprinkles and serve.
